This is where the importance of elder care services come into the picture. Mobile alarms and SOS button devices have gained some prominence for emergency calls in India, but the first responders to such calls are often unreliable and untrained. Another major issue troubling them is loneliness and the absence of people they can relate to and converse, without feeling out-of-date. Our Elder care services team is a multidisciplinary one with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, rehabilitation psychologists, co-ordinators and caregivers which as a unit, aims to care for our elders in a way that is unobtrusive, yet strongly dependable and accessible round the clock. Also, with social events and gatherings specially designed for our members, the entire elder care services team is attached to each of our senior clients closely and take personal care.
Our Elder Care Services Pathway
For every new member, we begin our assessment of the home situation and the extent of support needed with the Elder Care Services’ Physician’s visit – this assessment includes physical, psychological, social, and emotional aspects which impact the senior’s health. A customised Elder Care Services Plan is developed with the inputs from the family as well as previous medical carers / doctors, if any. Such plans are usually long term, with weekly monitoring visits. We ensure that our nursing staff visit them at a frequency which is comfortable for them without compromising on their medical monitoring and a rapport is built up gradually. In fact, we have witnessed some beautiful relationships develop with our staff which is rewarding for both the sides. The morale of our elder care services staff who care for our senior patients is always very high because they receive such love and attention from them! Also, in case of emergencies in course of providing elder care services, the assigned team members move in to ensure that suitable interventions are done including hospital transfer, admission, liaison with the hospital’s clinical team and conveyance of medical updates to the designated family member. We are of course always there post discharge with our full range of supervised bedside elder care service plans.
Need Based Care Plans
The following key requirements are well addressed by our Eldercare Program, and the care components can be customised according to the level of independence desired:
Emergency Support:
There is a round the clock tele-support team which arranges for all needs including emergency ambulance transport to a hospital of choice. Our Elder Care Services Team arranges for admission, pays the initial deposit money if any, communicates with the admitting consultant and gives feedback to an identified member of your family.
Preventive care:
- Vaccinations for prevention of Pneumonia, Influenza.
- Visits by nursing personnel trained in monitoring patients for physical and psychosocial issues at least once a week.
- Regular doctor’s home visit with suitable prescription of medications, tests and follow ups with the consultant or hospital physician.
- Option for Home Safety Assessment including prevention for falls, ease of visibility and an adaptive environment with the necessary changes arranged for.
- Home surveillance through CCTV
Psychosocial Support:
- Whether it is Doctor’s appointments or attending special interest events or having someone to talk to, there is always a ‘known’ person at hand who is dependable and familiar with individual preferences. A companion can be assigned for all work and travel outside home.
- Coordination and management of the entire household or specific functions can be done through office appointed caretakers who report back to the appointed family member.
- Mental Stimulation Activities and Intellectual Companionship
- There is a regular feedback to the family regarding any risks or issues which need attention.
Assistance with Daily Living, Nursing & Medical Monitoring:
Different types of providers of elder care services are available at hoe, from a few hours to round the clock for nursing and assistance with Activities of Daily Living, as and when required. They are supervised by a elder care services Physician assigned to the member. Allied Health staff such as Dieticians, Physiotherapists & Psychologists are available to come home for consultations and therapy, when advised.
